Good News, Reston Residents: Your Property Tax Rates Won't Go Up

That doesn't mean you'll pay the same in taxes, as home values likely will continue to increase this year.

RESTON, VA — If you're a property owner in Reston, there's good news: your property taxes won't be going up next year.

The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors decided Tuesday to advertise a proposed tax rate of $1.13 per $100 of assessed value in its recently proposed $4.01 billion general fund budget. That remains unchanged from last year.

That doesn't mean you won't see a higher tax bill, however. With property values continuing to rise, the average bill will rise by $40.69 under the current tax rate, according to a Washington Post report.

The rate isn't official yet: that will happen on May 2 after a number of public hearings.
