An excessive heat warning is in effect from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday in Reston and across Northern Virginia.
The heat index, or "feels like" temperature, is expected to reach or exceed 110 degrees on Saturday in parts of the region, according to the weather service.

Reston's heat index will reach 109 degrees by 4 p.m., with the temperature at 99 degrees.
An excessive heat warning means that a prolonged period of dangerously high temperatures is possible. People in the area should prepare for extreme temperatures.

Heat stroke and other heat-related illnesses are expected, according to the weather service.

Sunday will be another hot one in Reston, with the heat index at 104 degrees and high temperatures at 99 degrees. Slightly cooler temperatures into the workweek, but it will feel like the mid-90s.
