Hyatt's Tavern 64 Opens June 4

New restaurant replaces Market Street Bar & Grill.

The restaurant will take the place of Market Street Bar & Grill, which closed several months ago to make way for the new place.

Ray Messina, the Hyatt's director of sales and marketing, said last month that Market Street served Reston well, but it was time to shake things up at the Hyatt.

The Hyatt gutted the space for a makeover that includes organic materials, natural wood and hand painted pottery. There will a larger bar, individual tables as well as some communal tables, and the lounge will flow into the restaurant.

The 168-seat space (and large patio) will have the feel of a living room, hotel executives say. They want to make it inviting to Restonians, as well as hotel guests.

The 64 in "Tavern 64" is a nod to the year Reston was founded, says Ross Virando, the Hyatt's food and beverage director.

The menu is starting from scratch as well.  Dishes will sources from local suppliers as much as possible and will be moderately priced (entrees from $12 at lunch; $20 at dinner). Drinks will feature classic cocktails, wines by the glass and local beers on tap.
