National Night Out, Totally Trucks and Tony Curtis
Here's what's happening in Reston starting Aug. 3.

It is National Night Out on Tuesday. This annual event brings together communities and law enforcement in a fun and safe way.
Between 5 and 9 p.m., Fairfax County Police officers will bring their safety messages to neighborhoods at community events across the county.
The goals of National Night Out are to strengthen community connections within neighborhoods and to heighten awareness of crime prevention issues, say FCPD Public Safety officers.
Reston-area events will be held at Southgate Community Center (5 to 7 p.m.) , as well as at KinderCare locations (5:30 to 7 p.m.) at 1946 Issac Newton Square, 1802 Old Reston Avenue, 2300 Soapstone Road, 11875 Lake Newport Road, and 1302 North Village Road.

2. Let's Play - the very popular Totally Trucks event returns to Reston Association's Central Services Facility on Friday. Bring your preschooler from 9:30 a.m. to noon to climb aboard all kinds of trucks. Free and no registration required. Click here to learn more.

4. Let's Eat - Reston Association will host a community cookout 5 p.m. Tuesday at Lake Newport Pool. Come on over for free dinner and a swim. Click here for more info.
5. Let's watch - The Lake Anne Summer Film Festival returns on Sunday with Some Like It Hot starring Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon and Marilyn Monroe shown outdoors at Lake Anne Plaza. Bring a picnic and chairs and blankets and enjoy the free show. Film begins at dusk.
