Popsicles, Preference Poll and Peruvian Chicken
What you need to know for the week of Aug. 12 in Reston.

1. Cool off - Reston Association will host Popsicle Mania at the Ridge Heights Pool, 11400 Ridge Heights Rd., Tuesday at 3 p.m. Cool off with free Popsicles at the pool. Cancelled in the event of rain or threatening rain.
2. Shabbat Shalom - Come meet Congregation Beth Emeth's new rabbi, Michelle Goldsmith, at a cookout on Friday at 6 p.m. For price and registration, click here.
3. Be Advised - Speaking of pools, this is the last week for a good number of the Reston Association Pools. After Aug. 18, about two thirds will close for the season. So, if you have been meaning to hit Uplands, Hunters Woods or a number of others this season, get swimming this week. To see which ones will be closing Aug. 18, click here.
4. Time's Running Out - To file for Reston Community Center Board of Governors candidacy. The preference poll will take place in September, but you have until Aug. 15 to throw your hat into the ring. Click here for more info.
