RESTON, VA -- A 17-year-old boy has been arrested after police say he used a shotgun to carjack someone in Reston over the weekend.

Police were called to the 11800 block of Sunrise Valley Drive at around 5:30 a.m. on May 18 to a report of a carjacking, according to a report from the Fairfax County Police Department.

"The victim was putting air into his 2016 Chevrolet Suburban’s tire when a masked suspect appeared from the woods, pointed a shotgun at the victim and demanded the keys," the report states. "The suspect drove away but was tracked to an area nearby. As officers approached the stolen car, the suspect ran away."

With the help of a K9 unit, police caught a 17-year-old boy from Maryland, who was charged with carjacking and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, according to the report.
