SLHS, Herndon Students Are National Merit Semifinalists

Nine area students among 220 FCPS qualifying seniors.

Five South Lakes High School and four Herndon High School seniors have been named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists.

They are among 220 Fairfax County Public Schools students from 17 high schools have been named semifinalists earning the honor from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) for 2014.  

 All semifinalists are eligible to compete for 8,000 National Merit Scholarship awards worth $35 million, to be awarded in spring 2014.

Students are selected nationwide based on their PSAT scores junior year. Winners will be chosen in the spring.
