
The South Lakes High School boys soccer team improved to 8-1 after defeating McLean 2-0 on Tuesday,
It was the fifth straight shutout for South Lakes, which is tied with Langley for first place in the Liberty District with a 3-0 league record.
Senior defender Dylan Katz scored both of South Lakes goals against McLean.

He opened the scoring in the 22nd minute of the first half on a header off a perfect throw-in by defender Zack Deker. Katz secured the game in the 50th minute with an insurance goal for his fourth score of the season, by heading in a corner kick served into the box by senior defender Elvin Arbaiza.
Junior goalkeeper Huber Letona maintained a clean score sheet for his third game in a row by blocking and punching out several hard shots by McLean senior midfielder Theo Erickson.

The team, ranked No. 3 in this week's Washington Post poll, hopes to continue its streak during the next match on Thursday at Thomas Jefferson. Game time is 5:30 pm.
