Sobriety Checkpoint In Reston Planned By Fairfax County Police

Fairfax County police issued an alert about a sobriety checkpoint planned for Friday night on the Fairfax County Parkway in Reston.

RESTON, VA — The Fairfax County Police Department issued an alert about a sobriety checkpoint planned for Friday night on the Fairfax County Parkway in Reston.

The sobriety checkpoint will take place from 11 p.m. Friday night to 2 a.m. Saturday morning, police said.

Police are planning to set up the checkpoint on the northbound side of the Fairfax County Parkway at Walnut Branch Road.

“Please plan ahead, have a sober driver, and ensure we are responsible and keep our roads safe,” the Fairfax County police said in their alert.

The Supreme Court has found that temporary DUI checkpoint stops do not violate the Fourth Amendment rights of drivers, although several states (not Virginia) have statutes that prohibit sobriety checkpoints.
