Spectacular New Reston Office Building Tops Out

Reston Station's OB1 is the centerpiece of a new mixed-use development slated for completion next summer.

RESTON, VA — The eye-popping new centerpiece of Reston Station, OB1, has just topped out as the 16-story trophy-class office building moves closer to completion.

The 620,000-square-foot building will be part of a larger Reston Station mixed-used development, which will include residential and retail buildings near the Wiehle-Reston East Metro station on the Silver Line.

The building actually topped out last month, but Thornton Tomasetti, the structural engineer on the project, posted photos of the building on Monday, Dec. 19.

The tower will have a restaurant and eight levels of parking in addition to the office space.

The tower has a unique shape, with a diagonalized, concrete exoskeleton that enables its top to be wider than its base. Construction is slated to be complete in July 2017.
