Whim Pops: Cooling Off Reston Every Wednesday
Who wants a mango lime ice pop on a nearly 100-degree day?
It was 95 degrees on Wednesday - one of the hottest days of the summer so far.
Shoppers at Smartmarket Reston farmers market were cooling down with Whim Pops, homemade ice pops with extra-cool flavors.
Co-founder Nicte Ricano says she and business partner Maria Ramano make about 250 Whim Pops weekly and store them in a freezer at Ricano's Reston home.
They sell the pops at Smartmarkets in Reston, Oakton and Lorton.
"We picked flavors that really cool people off," says Ricano, pointing out Hibiscus pomegranate, cucumber and mango yogurt.
Smartmarket Reston is every Wednesday 3 to 7 p.m. at 12001 Sunrise Valley Dr. (At Reston Parkway).
