The group stocks elementary school food pantries, directly supports about 30 families, and regularly feeds up to 1,000 students, while inviting anyone in need—or willing to donate—to contact them.

2. Two displaced after fire in vacant building spreads to their Richmond home (wric.com) — Two Richmond residents were displaced Tuesday evening after a fire in a long-vacant building on Y Street spread to their home, damaging the side and attic. Richmond Fire crews responded around 5:48 p.m., and officials say the vacant structure had previously burned and remained unrepaired, leaving neighbors dealing with the fallout just before the holidays.

3. Crash survivor helps 100 families celebrate Christmas in Richmond (wtvr.com) — A Richmond crash survivor nicknamed “Coach” teamed up with two local doctors to help nearly 100 Richmond families celebrate Christmas through a new effort called Operation Holiday Hope. After surviving a devastating car crash, he’s now channeling gratitude and community support into gifts for local children, hoping small acts of kindness brighten a tough season for many neighbors.

4. Virginia teens arrested for attempted murder at FedEx facility (wtvr.com) — An 18-year-old Richmond resident and another teen from Sandston have been arrested after a November shooting outside a Hanover County FedEx facility that investigators say stemmed from a parking lot altercation. No one has been reported killed, but both face attempted murder and gun charges, and tips are being sought through Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers.

5. Many Virginians don't have access to an attorney: VSB report (wric.com) — Richmond is flagged among Virginia localities where residents face high barriers to finding legal help, even though it isn’t technically a “legal desert.” A new Virginia State Bar report shows one in four Virginians lack ready attorney access, with Central Virginia’s rural counties hit hardest and an aging attorney workforce deepening the problem statewide.
