  1. A Roanoke man has been sentenced to 55 years in prison for killing the wife of a retired Henry County investigator. 38-year-old Collin Joshua Russell plead guilty Wednesday morning in the shooting death of 63-year-old Pamela Morse that occurred on May 13, 2020. 28-year-old Casey Lynn Rogers of Roanoke will also appear in court next month in connection with Morse's death.   2. The Roanoke Valley Community Band will perform a free Halloween concert on Oct. 25. This family-friendly event will feature classic spooky songs from hits such as Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice, and the Nightmare Before Christmas. Stop by the Hidden Valley High School from 7:00-8:15 p.m. to enjoy the sounds of the spooky season performed live. (Roanoker)
  3. Roanoke's annual Spooky Sprint will take place on Saturday, Oct. 29, at Wasena Park at 9:30 a.m. Runners can sign up for the 5K race until 8:45 a.m. on the day of the event and are encouraged to wear costumes. Proceeds from this year's Spooky Sprint will benefit the West End Center for Youth. (WSLS 10)
