Lights of Hope is a special fundraising event hosted by ACS CAN, designed to honor those affected by cancer and to remember those we’ve lost. Participants can dedicate a Lights of Hope bag in memory or honor of someone by decorating it, with the funds raised supporting ACS CAN’s advocacy efforts to prioritize cancer issues among policymakers. Fundraising for Lights of Hope begins in February and runs until September. While you can host at-home displays at any time, many choose to do so in August or September. The annual Hope Walk will take place on September 16, 2025, at Constitution Gardens on the National Mall in Washington, DC, alongside the Leadership Summit & Lobby Day.
The Lights of Hope bags are typically displayed locally, either in your yard, driveway, or inside your home, providing an opportunity for the community to participate. Volunteers attending the Leadership Summit & Lobby Day can also bring up to 20 bags to be displayed at the event in Washington, DC. If you’re interested in fundraising, you can sign up through the ACS CAN DonorDrive platform at www.fightcancer.org/hope. Once registered, you can invite others to contribute by sharing your personalized page, where they can donate $10 or more per bag to honor a loved one.
