• Fairfax County solidifies new rules for electrical substations as energy demand grows (ffxnow.com) — Fairfax County has approved new rules for electrical substations that will shape how power infrastructure is built near Springfield neighborhoods, including a minimum 100-foot setback from homes and stronger noise and screening requirements. Springfield District Supervisor Pat Herrity backed the smaller setback, arguing it’s needed to upgrade existing substations as energy demand and data centers strain the grid. Residents and industry groups sharply disagreed over how the rules will affect costs and reliability.
