  1. To combat the increasing number of traffic accidents and pedestrian fatalities in Fairfax County, police have implemented several measures. These include increased traffic enforcement, a speed camera pilot program in school zones, and a $200 defensive driving class for young drivers. The police department hopes to educate drivers on safe driving practices and increase engagement between officers and the community to make the streets safer for everyone. (ABC 7 News)
  2. Police are warning the public that drug dealers are marketing THC sports drinks to appeal to children. Fairfax County police are warning parents and the community that the packaging often looks like an everyday item, making it difficult to distinguish them from regular products. Questionable products might say "may contain THC" or include an image of a marijuana plant. (FOX 5)
  3. A Fairfax County townhouse was damaged in a fire caused by someone leaving combustible materials in the kitchen. The fire started in the Annandale two-story end unit on Feb. 10 due to the materials that were left on the electric range. A neighbor noticed the fire and called emergency dispatchers. The home was unoccupied due to renovations and the fire caused around $94,000 in damage. (DC News Now)
  4. Fouzia Masood Khan, 59, was charged with simple assault of a student on Feb. 16. The instructional assistant at Saratoga Elementary School in Fairfax County allegedly drug a student down the hallway by the arm in January. A school employee witnessed the incident and immediately reported the assault. (Daily Voice)
  5. Dozens of suspicious flyers were found in multiple residential neighborhoods in nearby West McLean, displaying biased materials. The Fairfax County Police Department is investigating after homeowners in the area found sealed plastic bags with a propaganda flyer weighed with a bird seed on their property on Feb. 16. The investigation is ongoing but officials believe the flyers were randomly distributed. (WSUA 9)
