TYSONS, VA — The vacant restaurant space at the Westpark Corporate Center is serving up steaks again, as a steakhouse introduced its first East Coast location.

The 801 Chophouse Tysons Corner made a quiet debut in August at 8484 Westpark Drive. The steakhouse, which first opened in 1993 in downtown Des Moines, Iowa, has opened other locations in the Midwest and is now on the East Coast with its new Tysons restaurant. The steakhouse fills a vacant space since McCormick & Schmick's left the corporate park.

The founder of 801 Restaurant Group is Jimmy Lynch, who grew up in McLean, and his son and co-owner, Jamie, was born in D.C. The debut of the steakhouse in Tysons brings the family back to its roots in the region.

The restaurant's specialty is an in-house beef program with aged USDA Prime steaks, premium A5 Japanese and domestic Wagyu and Kobe Beef. According to 801 Chophouse, steaks are presented tableside for diners to choose. The steaks prepared by hand and go through in-house aging methods — both wet and dry — to boost flavor and tenderness. Steaks may be accompanied by preparations like Au Poivre and Cognac Cream, Red King Crab Oscar, Seared Foie Gras and Black Truffle Butter.
