Crew: Strong Showing at Regional Park Regatta

All six Madison varsity boats place in top three

In the second regatta of the season, all six Madison High School varsity boats placed in the top three at Saturday’s Regional Park Regatta on the Occoquan River, with all three women’s boats taking first place.  

Repeating its performance as the fastest women’s boat on the water, the women’s first eight finished with a time of 4:55:30. Both the women's second eight (5:41:70) and the women's third eight (5:26:70) finished several seconds ahead of the second place finishers in their finals.  

In a very tight men's first eight final, Madison raced to a third place finish with a time of 4:34:95, edged out by first and second place winners, Thomas Jefferson and Oakton, respectively.

In the men's second eight, Madison finished a strong third, with a time of 5:17:19.  The Lightweight Men's Four finished in second place with a time of 5:37:15, just behind Woodson. The freshmen women's eight, in their first race of the season, advanced to the finals with a second place in their first heat, finishing in fifth place in the finals.
