Dog Left in Car Leads to Multiple Charges for Woman Driver
Potomac, Md. woman faces charges of petit larceny, possession of schedule IV controlled substance, and driving on suspended license.

VIENNA, VA -- A call about a dog locked in a car led to multiple charges for the Potomac, Md. driver, according to Vienna Police.
Police say that Friday night, May 27, they were called to the parking lot at the Walgreens store at 225 Maple Ave. East A citizen had called for a report of a dog chained up in a vehicle in the parking lot of the Walgreens.
When MPO Smith got to the area, he observed the dog in the vehicle and made contact with the driver. During his conversation with the driver, MPO Smith observed several items he believed to be stolen, police said.

MPO Smith’s investigation revealed the driver had stolen items from the Walgreens, was in possession of a narcotic, and had a driving status that was suspended in the state of Virginia, according to police.
The woman, 30, from Fontaine Street in Potomac, Md., was issued three summonses for petit larceny, possession of schedule IV controlled substance, and driving a motor vehicle while suspended. She was released on her signature.

INCIDENTS
Animal Case - Quarantine 16-004408: 900 Block Fairway Drive, NE May 26 9:00 a.m. A citizen called to report she was bitten by a dog while on a walk. She said while she was walking a dog came charging out of a residence and bit her. MPO Lyons was able to find the residence where the dog lived and impose quarantine.
Civil 16-004410: 1000 Block Westbriar Drive, NE May 26 8:00 p.m. A resident called to report a fraud concerning work done on her residence. Ofc. Sterling spoke with the resident and informed her, the fraud was a civil matter. She was provided resources on how to start the civil process within the court system.
Arrest - Narcotics Violation 16-004421: 500 Block Maple Avenue, West May 26 12:15 p.m. Ofc. Herrera observed a vehicle make a traffic violation. After speaking with the occupants of the vehicle, he determined the backseat passenger to be in possession of a measureable amount of marijuana. The 23 year old female subject from Huddersfield Way, Bristow was issued a summons for possession of marijuana and released on her signature.
Animal Case 16-004422: 700 Block Kingsley Raod, SW May 26 11:25 p.m. A citizen called to report an injured deer. Ofc. Hylinski found the deer and determined its injuries were too severe to render aid. The deer was euthanized.
Juvenile 16-004432: Cedar Lane School 101 Cedar Lane, SW May 27 12:06 p.m. The staff at Cedar Lane School called to report two juvenile students had left school grounds. School staff stated the juveniles’ parents were notified.
Grand Larceny 16-004442: Whole Foods 143 Maple Avenue, East May 27 7:31 p.m. Officers responded to take a report about a shoplifter. The manager said a male subject walked out of the store with several bottles of wine without purchasing them.
Civil 16-004445: 1000 Block Park Street, SE May 27 8:53 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a domestic situation turned physical. When officers got to the area they found no domestic or physical situation taking place. Officers determined the matter was civil in nature between two roommates, one male, and one female. Both parties were offered services and counseling on how to start the civil process within the court system.
Arrest – Narcotics Violation 16-004455: 500 Maple Avenue, West May 28 2:37 a.m. Sgt. Farhan observed a vehicle make a traffic violation. While Sgt. Farhan spoke to the driver, Ofc. Herrera who was watching the passengers in the vehicle, observed the front seat passenger attempt to conceal suspected marijuana. After confronting the passenger of the vehicle, they admitted they were in possession of a measurable amount of marijuana. The 22 year old male passenger from Lower Court, Crofton, Maryland was issued a summons for possession of marijuana and released on his signature.
Grand Larceny 16-004468: 900 Block Frederick Street, SW May 28 10:28 a.m. A resident called to report their bicycle had been stolen.
Civil 16-004487: Vienna Police Department 215 Center Street, South May 28 10:20 p.m. A resident came to the station to report a family matter involving her daughters. The parties were told the matter was civil in nature and counseled on how to start the civil process within the court system.
Grand Larceny 16-004489: Whole Foods 143 Maple Avenue, East May 28 10:40 p.m. A citizen called to report his bicycle was stolen from the bicycle rack outside of Whole Foods.
Vandalism 16-004490: 400 Block Windover Avenue, NW May 28 10:49 p.m. A resident called to report the rear windshield to their vehicle had been smashed out.
Arrest – Narcotics violation 16-004492: Chain Bridge Road and Glengyle Drive May 28 11:37 p.m. Ofc. Reedy observed a vehicle make a traffic violation. After speaking with the occupants of the vehicle, he determined the front seat passenger was in possession of a measureable amount of marijuana. The 25 year old male subject from NW 197th Street, Miami, Florida was issued a summons for possession of marijuana and released on his signature.
Arrest – Narcotics Violation 16-004494: 1100 Maple Avenue, East May 29 12:55 a.m. Ofc. Herrera observed a vehicle make a traffic violation. After speaking with the driver of the vehicle, he determined the driver was in possession of a measureable amount of marijuana. The 22 year old female driver from Lovettsville Knoll Court, Ashburn was issued a summons for possession of marijuana and released on her signature.
Arrest – Driving While Intoxicated 16-004498: Lawyers Road and Wilmar Place NW May 29 8:10 a.m. Ofc. Bulti was on patrol when he observed a vehicle with its hazard lights on blocking traffic. When he spoke with the driver he observed signs of possible impairment. The driver of the vehicle was offered standard field sobriety tests, which they failed. The vehicle was searched and various narcotics were found. The 25 year old male driver from Blenheim Drive, Oakton was arrested for driving while intoxicated and possession of a schedule IV controlled substance. The driver was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
Assist Fire Ems 16-004508: 100 Block Patrick Street, SE May 29 3:20 p.m. Officers responded to assist Fairfax County Fire & EMS with a male subject who fell and injured himself. The male subject was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Assist Fire Ems 16-004521: 300 Block Holmes Drive, NW May 30 3:39 a.m. Officers responded to assist Fairfax County Fire & EMS with a female who needed medical attention. The female was transported to an area hospital for further evaluation.
Destruction of Property 16-004538: Church Street and Mill Street, NE Between May 29 at 6:00 p.m. and May 30 at 8:00 a.m. A vendor at the Viva Vienna event called to report his tent had been damaged overnight.
Assault 16-004539: Dominion Road and Church Street, NE May 30 2:57 p.m. A citizen called to report he was assaulted by another male subject at the Viva Vienna event. The citizen stated a male subject struck him and then fled the area. Ofc. Hylinski was able to make contact with the male suspect who provided a different account of what occurred. There were no witnesses to the event. Both parties were advised of the warrant process.
Grand Larceny 16-004553: Vienna Community Center 120 Cherry Street, SE Between May 27 at 3:30 p.m. and May 31 at 8:00 a.m. A construction company working on the Vienna Community Center called to report they had several items stolen from their secured trailer.
Suspicious Event 16-004568: McDonald’s 208 Cedar Lane, SE May 31 3:33 p.m. A citizen called to state he was assaulted. Officers went to the location and reviewed the surveillance tape which showed no assault occurred.
Fraud 16-004570: 620 Tazewell Road, NW May 31 4:25 p.m. A resident called to report he was a victim of a fraud. He stated someone was using his identity to open accounts in another state.
Open Door Window 16-004574: 200 Block Walnut Lane, NW May 31 5:01 p.m. Officers responded to a residential alarm. When they are arrived at the residence, the officers found the garage door unsecured. They searched the residence and found no suspicious activity.
Police Service 16-004590: Church Street and Mill Street, NE May 31 3:00 p.m. A male subject came to the Vienna Viva event and his presence drew a large crowd. The male subject was escorted by officers to his vehicle where he safely left the area.
Domestic Dispute 16-004596 Casmar Street June 1 10:44 a.m. Officers responded to the listed area for a domestic dispute. The officers spoke with both a male and female subject. Both subjects stated nothing physical took place, only a verbal exchange of words. One of the subjects agreed to leave the residence so both could calm down. Both subjects were provided with information about counseling services.
Vandalism 16-004597: 200 Block Cedar Lane, SE June 1 10:55 a.m. A resident called to report the rear windshield of their vehicle had been damaged.
Open Door Window 16-004609: 400 Block Surrey Lane, SE June 1 3:16 p.m. Officers responded to a residential alarm. When they arrived at the residence they saw the front door open. The residence was checked and nothing appeared to have been disturbed.
Arrest – Drunk In Public 16-004616: Giant Food 359 Maple Avenue, East June 1 8:44 p.m. The manager of the Giant Food called to report a male subject had just stolen a bottle of wine. Ofc. Reedy found the male subject outside of the Giant Food. When he spoke with the male subject he observed signs of possible impairment. The 52 year old male subject from Church Street NW, Vienna was arrested for drunk in public. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. The manager stated Giant Food was declining to prosecute the male subject for petit larceny.
Assist Fire EMS 16-004617: Wolftrap Road and Westwood Forest Drive June 1 10:27 p.m. Officers responded to the area listed for a group of juveniles hanging out on the side of the road. When they arrived they found the juveniles were adults and one of the adult females was experiencing a medical emergency. Officers assisted the female subject until Fairfax County Fire & EMS arrived. They then transported the female subject to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
