In 2011, officers arrested 39 people for driving under the influence of alcohol over Super Bowl weekend.Statistics show there were eight alcohol-related crashes that weekend as well. According to national data, half of all fatal crashes on Super Bowl Sunday in 2009 involved alcohol. The Fairfax County Police Department will be patrolling the roadways across the county in an effort to deter impaired driving. If motorists see unsafe driving behaviors, they are urged to contact the Fairfax County Police at either 9-1-1 or 703-691-2131.
