Free Comic Book Day 2016: Northern Virginia Stores Participating

Northern Virginia area comic book fans or those who hope to become so don’t have to wait too much longer to enjoy a title without cost. Free Comic Book Day 2016 is set to take place this Saturday.

The May 7 event is the 15th of its kind. On that day, comic book shops and specialty stores across North America and throughout Northern Virginia plan to give away free comic book titles while supplies last. The one-day giveaway is meant to introduce newcomers to comic books to the art form.

While every retailer signed up for the event may have its own rules about participation, those who visit a shop on the list will receive “at least one free comic” the event’s website states. Titles may vary by location.

Here are the stores in Northern Virginia that are taking part in this year’s observance by handing out free comics, according to the Free Comic Book Day Web site:

• Aftertime Comics: 1304 King St., Alexandria
• The Amazing Comic Shop Inc.: 10647 Braddock Road, Fairfax
• Comics & Gaming: 10385 Main St., Fairfax
• The Comic Shop: 11956L Fair Oaks Mall, Fairfax
• EG Comics: 142 Maple Ave. West, Vienna
• Hole in the Wall Books Inc.: 905 W. Broad St., Falls Church
• Big Planet Comics of Vienna: 426 Maple Ave. East, Vienna
• Victory Comics Group: 586 S. Washington St., Falls Church
