Cougars hand Warhawks their first loss of the season

The Madison High School girls soccer team lost its first game of the season to crosstown rival Oakton High on Wednesday.

The 1-0 loss came after more than 70 minutes of scoreless play. With a little more than eight minutes left in the game, the Cougars' Lexi Krall scored on an assist from Alex Meyers. 

The Warhawks are now 2-1 this season. Last week, they defeated West Springfield 2-1 in overtime and Herndon in a 5-0 rout. They will travel to Herndon for their next game, scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday.
