Madison Beats Lake Braddock In First Round
Warhawks girls basketball will face Robinson in Northern Region quarterfinals
Madison High School's girls basketball team took off in the second half of their game against Lake Braddock on Monday night, outpacing the Bruins for a 55-36 victory in the first round of Northern Region play.
After ending the first quarter down 15-5, Lake Braddock found a groove, matching Madison's 14 points for the second quarter. They went into halftime down just 10 points, 29-19.
But the second half was Madison's game. They kept Lake Braddock at a distance of 10 points or greater for the last two quarters to win 55-36 at the buzzer.

Despite extra pressure, Madison freshman Kelly Koshuta still walked away with a team-high 17 points, five of them from the line. Juniors Megan LeDuc and Megan Henshaw netted 10 and 9 points a piece, with Lindsay Joost, Kelsey Ross, Jana Tremba and Katie Kerrigan each contributing four points or more.
Lake Braddock was led by Natalie Butler's 10 points. Marcia Altman added seven.

Madison (22-4) will face Robinson High School (18-6) at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Madison High School.
What to expect: Robinson lost to only one opponent in the Concorde District this year: the Oakton Cougars, who also defeated Madison earlier in the season. The Rams have averaged about 50.3 points per game. Their leading scorer, Tyler Hansen, has scored an average of 11.2 points per game.
