The district championship win was led by seniors Jordon Condon, the Concorde District Co-Player of the Year, and Mia Pisani, 1st Team All District Attacker. The Warhawks had been trailing 11-8 in the district championship game with 9:32 to go in the second half. The team rallied to pull ahead of Oakton 14-13 with less than two and a half minutes in the game, but Oakton’s Aly Yee-Jenkins scored the tying goal with 1:01 left in regulation. Oakton had the accompanying draw but could not convert on the last possession of regulation as the Madison defense held strong.

That led to overtime, where Madison won the draw and was positioned to score. But Oakton's defense picked up a loose ball and headed downfield. Madison's Elizabeth Casto, 1st Team All District Midfielder, intercepted the Oakton pass and headed downfield to set up the game-winning goal. Pisani from the top of the circle hit a cutting Condon in the center of the Oakton Defense and sent the ball to the back of the net to win the game.

This was the second overtime faceoff between Madison and Oakton this season. In the regular season overtime game, Madison won 13-12 with a late overtime goal by Pisani.

"It’s always a battle with Oakton," said Coach Jean Count in a statement. "Our team stuck together through the many ups and downs in regulation and overtime. It was a game of effort and heart. We are grateful to have come out with the win."

The Madison Warhawks were led by Condon with five goals and two assists, Pisani with four goals and one assist, junior Kylie O’Donnell with three goals, Casto with two goals, and senior Sam Tadle, 1st Team All District Defense, with one goal and two assists. The Oakton Cougars were led by junior Aly Yee-Jenkins, Concorde District Co-Player of the Year, with seven Goals and senior Eva Howell with three goals.
