More Than 15,000 Have Cast Absentee Ballots in Fairfax County
The deadline to register to vote in Virginia is this coming Monday, Oct. 17.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- As of Wednesday night, the Fairfax County elections office has counted 15,5215 absentee ballots in this year's election, the office announced Thursday. Of those, 9,299 were cast in person and 6,216 were mail-in ballots. Voters have requested 33,630 absentee ballots by mail.
The elections office noted that if you are voting absentee by mail, using the United States Postal Service (USPS): "The USPS has changed its delivery standards and First Class mail delivery is now two to five days. Standard delivery is now two to nine days. Please take this into consideration and allow ample time to apply for and mail-in your absentee ballot so that it is delivered to the Office of Elections by Election Day, Nov. 8 by 7 p.m." You can find more information about absentee voting by mail here.
Absentee ballots are counted on election night after 7 p.m. (when polls close) and included with the county's other 243 precinct results.

Fairfax County's weekday in-person absentee voting hours and locations expand beginning Monday Oct. 17. In-person absentee voting will be available six days a week: Saturdays at 10 locations and weekdays at 9 these locations.
Where to vote absentee in person in Fairfax County
With absentee voting now underway, voters can either mail in their ballot or vote absentee in person at 10 locations across Fairfax County on Saturdays Oct. 15, 22, 29 and Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The locations will be open weekdays starting Oct. 17, Monday through Friday from 2-8 p.m. Click the absentee voting location links in the list below for an interactive map of the location. - You can also vote at the Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Conference Room 2/3. You can vote absentee at the government center Sept. 23 to Oct. 14: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Thursday: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. From Oct. 17 to Nov. 4: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Saturday schedule at the government center is Oct. 15, 22, 29 and Nov. 5, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
