No Injuries In Commons Drive Fire

A furnace fire in a Commons Drive townhome was put out quickly Tuesday morning by Vienna and Fairfax County Fire and Rescue personnel.

Firefighters responded around 9:20 a.m. to a report of smoke coming from the first floor of a three-story townhome in the 200 block of Commons Drive, a small development that borders the southern end of .

Spokesperson Daniel Schmidt said firefighters put out the smoke very quickly, and there were no injuries reported from the occupants inside the home.

The engines were still on scene around 9:40 a.m., retracting a large ladder from the roof of the home. An elderly woman in a wheelchair was being taken back into the home.
