Police Investigate Shot Fired Into Restaurant in Vienna

Also in weekly crime report, an employee of a local business reports a suspicious man entered the store and grabbed her by thehair.

VIENNA, VA -- Vienna Police say they are investigating a shooting that occurred last week at Anita's Restaurant at 521 Maple Ave. An employee reported a window in the restaurant shattered Sunday, Oct. 23 at about 7:30 p.m. Police determined that an unknown person had fired one bullet into the restaurant. If anyone has further information on this incident, police ask that you please contact them.

Fraud 16-009097 600 Echols Street, SE October 7 9:00 a.m. A resident reported an unauthorized charge on her Macy’s credit card account. Found Property 16-009010 200 Cedar Lane, SE October 19 10:00 a.m. An employee with the apartment complex turned in a license plate that was found on their grounds. The license plate will be held at the police station to be released to the owner.

Arrest – Driving While Intoxicated 16-009006 Ayr Hill Avenue and Lawyers Road, NW October 21 2:15 a.m. Ofc. Reedy observed a driver commit a series of traffic violations and initiated a traffic stop. Upon his interaction with the driver he detected possible signs of impairment. After failing to complete a series of field sobriety tests he arrested the 28 year old man from Rifle Ridge Road in Oakton, Virginia for Driving While Intoxicated. Ofc. Reedy transported the man to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and was to be held until he was sober with a $1000 unsecured bond.

Police Service 16-009007 8600 Block McHenry Street October 21 between 5:50 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. A citizen notified our department of suspicious text messages he was receiving from a former classmate. The citizen had used a cell phone application to determine the man was calling from an area within the Town. Sgt. Sheeran was able to make telephone contact with the man and determined the exact address where he was located was in the jurisdiction of the Fairfax County Police. Sgt. Sheeran talked to the man until officers from our department and Fairfax County were with him. It appeared the man was suffering with some mental issues. Fairfax County officers followed up on the case, providing the man with the assistance he needed.

Assault 16-009138 Skintelligence 421 Church Street, NE October 21 4:45 p.m. An employee reported that a man came into the business acting suspicious, and asking questions that made her feel uncomfortable. At one point the man walked behind the front desk and grabbed the employee by the hair. The employee waited a few days to file a police report. She was advised to notify the police if she sees him again.

Assault 16-009020 Giant Food 359 Maple Avenue, East October 21 6:00 p.m. A citizen reported that an individual bumped into him in the grocery store, then cursed at him. He followed the young man, prompting him for an apology as he left the store and proceeded south on Branch Road, entering a nearby home. Officers went to the address and found the man who advised them that he had accidently bumped into the citizen. He stated the citizen then began following him, cursing at him and making threatening statements. Both men were advised of the warrant process should they wish to pursue charges.

Shoplifting 16-009022 Rite Aid 215 Maple Avenue, West October 21 8:00 p.m. An employee advised a black female entered the store and was acting suspicious before placing ice cream and chips in her bag. She proceeded to leave the store without paying for the items.

Arrest – Narcotics 16-009023 Beulah Road and Druid Hill Road, NE October 21 8:42 p.m. Ofc. Bulti was investigating an accident with injury. During his investigation he found one of the drivers had marijuana in their possession in their vehicle. The 24 year old female from Clarks Crossing Road in Vienna was issued a summons for Possession of Marijuana and released on her signature.

Animal Case – Quarantine 16-009056 300 Block Adahi Road, SE October 21 9:30 p.m. A citizen came to the Vienna Police Station to report that her 15 year old daughter had been bitten by a dog the previous night. The girl had been playing with friends when she ran through the dog’s yard and was bitten on the leg, suffering an injury that required medical attention. The dog was current with all of his vaccinations. The owner was advised of the quarantine period.

Arrest – Narcotics 16-009035 Church Street and Mill Street, NE October 22 12:46 a.m. Ofc. Bulti observed a vehicle being operated with improper equipment and initiated a traffic stop. Upon his interaction with the driver he detected the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Both the driver and the passenger were found to be in possession of marijuana. Ofc. Bulti issued summons, charging both the driver, a 19 year old female from Thrush Ridge Road in Reston, and the passenger, an 18 year old female from Sweetbay Lane in Reston, with Possession of Marijuana. Both women were released on their signatures.

Arrest – Narcotics 16-009039 Maple Avenue and Park Street, NE October 22 2:27 a.m. Ofc. Reedy observed an occupied vehicle stopped on Maple Avenue. He stopped to check on the occupants and, upon his interaction with the driver, detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The officer found a measurable amount of marijuana in the vehicle. Ofc. Reedy issued a summons to the driver, a 24 year old man from Northton Court in Woodbridge, Virginia, charging him with Possession of Marijuana. He was released on his signature.

Domestic Dispute 16-009041 Desale Street, SW October 22 7:19 a.m. A resident reported his wife was missing. When officers arrived at the home they found the woman who advised that she and her husband were having a verbal dispute the previous night and she was just in another part of the house to avoid contact with him this morning.

Arrest – Narcotics and Driving Under the Influence of Drugs 16-009065 and 16-009066 Lawyers Road and Ayrhill Avenue, NE October 22 11:53 p.m. Ofc. Bulti observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and initiated a traffic stop. Upon his interaction with the occupants he detected the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. As the occupants stepped out of the vehicle it was determined that the front seat passenger was in possession of marijuana and was very intoxicated. That passenger was taken into custody and placed in the officer’s cruiser Officer Reedy’s investigation resulted in the arrest of one man for being Drunk in Public and another man for Driving Under the Influence of Drugs. Both men are 21 years old and reside at the same address on Valley Park Street in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Fraud 16-009109 700 Plum Street, SW October 23 12:00 p.m. A resident received notification from a bank that someone was attempting to open a credit card account using his information.

Mental Case 16-009079 Cottage Street and Patrick Street, SW October 23 2:14 p.m. Citizens alerted police to a friend of theirs who was suicidal. Officers located the man who had not harmed himself physically but was in need of medical attention due to his mental state. MPO Borja transported the man to an area facility for treatment.

Petit Larceny 16-009107 1000 Block Pruitt Court, SW Between October 23 at 4:00 p.m. and October 24 at 11:00 a.m. A resident reported that five potted plants were taken from a flower bed in front of his residence.

Arrest – Domestic Assault 16-009082 Ware Street, SW October 23 4:29 p.m. Officers responded to a 911 hang up at a residence. Upon arrival they met with two men, a father and his adult son, who both showed signs of being involved in an altercation. Rescue responded and treated both subjects at the scene, neither man was transported. It was determined that the father was the primary aggressor and he was taken into custody on the charge of Domestic Assault. The man was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was released on his signature and a $1500 unsecured bond.

Assault With a Weapon 16-009083 Commons Drive, NW October 23 4:58 p.m. Officers responded to a report of an unknown situation involving a person with a knife. When they arrived on scene they found an injured man who was suffering from wounds that appeared to have been caused by a knife. Rescue was summoned and transported the man to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. It was determined the man was injured in a residence where he had been staying on Commons Drive. This case is under investigation by our department.

Domestic Dispute 16-009086 Park Street, SE October 23 9:01 p.m. Officers responded for a verbal dispute between husband and wife. Suspicious Event 16-009105

1100 Block Ware Street, SW October 24 1:07 p.m. A resident heard a knock at her front door which she ignored. She then believed she heard someone walking across the deck and begin kicking at the side door to the residence. When she went to the side door she observed a Hispanic male. The resident yelled at the man, who then ran away in an unknown direction. Officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the man.

Police Service 16-009110 Course Street and Fairway Drive, NE October 24 5:32 p.m. MPO Vazquez was approached by a citizen advising she was looking for her 7 year old child. The officer located the child and returned him to his home.

Arrest - Trespassing 16-009136 Whole Foods 143 Maple Avenue, East October 25 1:46 p.m. Earlier in the day a woman had been in the store attempting to steal food. The store employees advised her at that time to leave the store and not return. An employee was now advising the woman was back, and he wanted officers to remove her from the business. MPO Vazquez and MPO Seitz escorted the woman out of the store where the employee trespassed her in the officers’ presence. A few hours later the woman again returned to the store. MPO Vazquez placed the woman under arrest and transported her to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where she was charged with Trespass and held on an unsecured $1500 bond.

Suspicious Event 16-009141 Carter Court, SW October 25 5:51 p.m. A resident came to the police station to report statements that her husband has made that she felt were threatening toward her.

Domestic Dispute 16-009150 Carter Court, SW October 25 10:17 p.m. A resident reported a verbal dispute that she had with her husband.

Grand Larceny 16-009179 1400 Block Cottage Street, SW October 27 between 2:00 a.m. and 3:13 a.m.A resident heard a noise causing him to check outside and find all of their Halloween ornaments had been stolen from their front yard.

Found Property 16-009180 500 Block Maple Avenue, West October 27 3:24 a.m. A citizen observed a black suitcase fall from the back of a moving truck. Another citizen reported a clothes chest fall from the same truck. Ofc. Post was able to notify the owner of the property who advised he had hired a company off Craigslist to move him the following day and that this was some of the property they were to be moving. The property is being held at the Vienna Police Station for the owner to retrieve.
