Police Log: Disruptive Motel Guest Arrested for Drunk in Public
The following arrest information was supplied by the Vienna Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Wolftrap Motel guest was arrested for drunk in public after throwing golf clubs and luggage into the parking lot Sept. 5, according to the Vienna Police Department.
Marvin Douglas Browne, 42, of Buckeye Court in Fairfax was arrested for drunk in public.
Around 2:25 a.m. Sept. 5, a Wolftrap Motel employee reported a guest was banging on the doors of other guests, causing a disturbance.

The responding officer found Browne, who appeared to be intoxicated, in his room, according to the police report. The officer advised him to remain in his room or he would be arrested for drunk in public. Later that morning, the same officer found Browne outside the Wolftrap Motel throwing golf clubs and luggage in the parking lot.
Browne was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was to be held until he was sober.

Other highlights from the Vienna Police Department Log, Aug. 31 to Sept. 6:
- A resident reported a bat flew into their bedroom and landed on the bed on the 200 block of Commons Drive NW at 2:45 a.m. Aug. 24. The residents were unable to catch the bat and requested the assistance of the police department. The bat was trapped and secured until it could be transported to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter.
- A resident at the 400 block of Center Street South reported she had been receiving harassing text messages from an ex-boyfriend between noon Aug. 28 and 10 p.m. Aug 31. This case is being investigated.
- A resident on the 400 block of Courthouse Road SW reported her mailbox had gone missing 8 a.m. Aug. 30. She advised the mailbox had been lying on the ground next to the mounting post. The mailbox went missing on the trash pick-up day. The resident was going to contact the Department of Public Works.
- An employee of Bazin's Restaurant, 111 Church St. NW, reported he left his iPhone in the employee changing area. between 12:30 and 3:45 p.m. Aug. 30. When he returned to get the phone it was missing. This case is being investigated.
- An employee of the Hope Center, 140 Park Street SE, reported that while attempting to treat a dog she was bitten on the hand 2 p.m. Aug. 30. The dog’s owner resides in Washington D.C. Animal Control Officer Barker contacted Animal Control in Washington D.C. and was advised they would initiate the quarantine process.
- A resident of the 600 block of Thelma Circle SW reported she and her adult daughter had become involved in a heated argument at 8:25 a.m. Aug. 31. The daughter advised her mother had slapped her across the face. The mother denied striking her daughter. An officer was unable to determine an assault had occurred and advised the daughter of the process to obtain a warrant.
- A resident on the 1000 block of Echols St. SE reported he placed his bicycle behind the bushes in front of his residence between 4 and 9 p.m. Aug. 31, and when he returned later that day the bicycle was missing.
- A citizen reported at 4:58 p.m. Sept. 1 a bicycle had been left unsecured at the Vienna Woods Swim Club, 950 Desale Street SW, for several days. The bicycle was transported to police headquarters where it will be held until the owner can be identified.
- Timothy Joseph Burke, 44, of Lawyers Road NW in Vienna, was arrested for driving while intoxicated after failing to complete field sobriety tests during a traffic stop on the 300 block of Maple Avenue East at 11:13 p.m. Aug. 1. Burke was transported to the Vienna Police Department for analysis of his breath. After the analysis he was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was charged with driving while intoxicated. Burke was held on a $5,000.00 bond.
- Sgt. Taylor conducted a traffic stop at 11:55 p.m. Sept. 1 at Vale Road and Carey Lane NW. Upon his interaction with the driver he detected the odor of alcohol. After successfully completing a series of field sobriety tests Sgt. Taylor released the driver to his father.
- Responding to a report of an unconscious individual on the 100 block of Beulah Road NE at 4:13 p.m. Sept. 2, police arrested Christopher Lee Duffy, 25, of Millard Court in Sterling was arrested for drunk in public. Duffy was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was to be held until he was sober.
- An officer conducted a traffic stop on the 9600 block of Courthouse Road SW at 1:49 a.m. Sept. 3. Stephen Kasraie Zander, 25, of Oak Plank Court in Oakton, was arrested for driving while intoxicated after failing field sobriety tests. Zander was transported to the Vienna Police Department for analysis of his breath. After the analysis he was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was charged with driving while intoxicated. Zander was held on a $2,500 bond.
- A resident on the 200 block of Audreys Court SE reported she and her husband became involved in a heated argument around noon Sept. 3. The wife wanted to buy her son an umbrella and the husband wanted to buy their son a raincoat. The argument escalated when the husband threw food in the direction of his wife. The husband and wife agreed to separate for the day and to avoid anymore altercations.
- A citizen reported he was bit on the hand as he was walking in front of the Magruder's Grocery Store at 180 Maple Avenue West at 12:44 p.m. Sept. 3. Animal Control Officer Barker located the owner of the dog and explained the quarantine process. Barker will follow up with the case.
- An employee on the 300 block of Maple Avenue West reported a pharmacy had telephoned him to request verification of prescriptions at 12:04 p.m. Sept. 4. The prescriptions were not valid. The pharmacy will follow up with the Fairfax County Police Department.
- Aparna Moondra, 38, of Aristotle Drive in Fairfax was arrested for driving while intoxicated after failing to complete field sobriety tests in a traffic stop on Maple Avenue at Nutley Street NW at 12:05 a.m. Sept. 5. Moondra was transported to the Vienna Police Station for an analysis of her breath. She was unable to provide a breath sample and was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where a blood sample was provided. Moondra was charged with driving while intoxicated. She was held on a $2,500 bond.
- An employee at the Wolftrap Motel, 430 Maple Avenue SW, reported an individual was being beaten up by three other individuals at 1:29 a.m. Sept. 5. Police located the victim, who appeared to have injuries consistent with being in a fight. The victim advised he did not need rescue and he was unable to provide a description of his assailants. Officers canvassed the area and were unable to locate the assailants.
- A resident on the 400 block of Victoria Court NW reported he was upset his wife, whom he is currently in the process of divorcing, had been removing property from the residence at 4:56 p.m. Sept. 5. The wife left without further incident.
- A citizen reported they found a Virginia driver's license on the 100 block of Maple Avenue West at 6:14 p.m. Sept. 5. The license will be held until the owner can be located.
- A resident reported a tree service had solicited her at her residence on the 900 block of Symphony Circle SW between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Sept. 6. They advised she needed to have limbs from a tree cut down immediately. The tree service provided a cost for the work that the resident felt was too expensive. The individual and the resident agreed to a lower cost. After the initial work the tree service advised the resident she needed more limbs removed for an additional cost. They negotiated a cost for the extra work. After completing the work, an individual from the tree service became aggressive with the resident concerning the payment for the services. The resident became uncomfortable and telephoned the police department. An officer arranged for the tree service and the resident to meet at Vienna Police Headquarters to settle payment for the work.
