​Public Hearing on Updated Parking Standards April 3

From the Town of Vienna: The Town of Vienna is considering changes to its parking regulations that will, in particular, impact commercial property owners and businesses. Town Council will hold a public hearing on Monday, April 3, on Planning Commission-recommended changes to the parking section of the Town’s Zoning Ordinance. Business owners and residents are invited to attend and provide feedback at the public hearing; the Town Council meeting will begin at 8 p.m. at Town Hall, 127 Center Street S.

Under the proposed changes, new and redeveloped commercial properties would be required to include landscaping in parking areas. To accommodate the additional space needed for landscaping, the Town is considering a reduction in the number of parking spaces required.

In addition, changes related to residential guest parking are being proposed.

“We believe that these changes are positive and a win-win for everyone,” says Planning and Zoning Director Patrick Mulhern. “These changes will ensure that the Town’s parking standards are consistent with state code requirements, meet current parking needs, and align with current development practices.

The recommended parking regulation changes are part of the Town’s efforts to bring its Zoning Ordinance up to date. The last major update to the ordinance was in 1969. For additional information about the proposed changes, visit viennava.gov/DocumentCenter/View/3452.
