Michael Gallagher, a Vienna staff engineer, picked for new position

The Town of Vienna named civil engineer Michael Gallagher as its new Deputy Director of Public Works on Wednesday, a role designed to help lead its largest department.
Gallagher, 36, was selected from 60 applicants, Director of Public Works Dennis Johnson said in a statement. He'll focus on the town's water quality regulatory requirements, track regional public works issues and trends and help solve issues within the town's department.
“Mr. Gallagher has experience working in the public sector engineering field and has thorough knowledge of the many stages of project management. His knowledge and extensive experience in customer contact and service will prove invaluable as a member of the Town’s management team,” Johnson said.

“I am excited and honored to have this opportunity to participate in a leadership role with the Town," said Gallagher, who has a civil engineering degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and is also a licensed professional engineer. "I ... look forward to building my skills and utilizing my experience to further support the Department’s programs and services."
