Town of Vienna Offers Holiday Day Trips
See The Rockettes in New York City, Longwood Gardens, Lancaster Christmas Experience or holiday-themed Pennsylvania Opry House.

VIENNA, VA -- Every year, the Town of Vienna Parks and Recreation Department offers fun day trips for residents and non-residents. This year, as usual, they are offering several holiday-themed trips. Spots were still available for the following trips as of Wednesday, Nov. 16 (descriptions are from the Town of Vienna Parks and Recreation Department).
Wednesday, Nov. 30: Pennsylvania Opry House (for ages 50 and older): Come and join the Pennsylvania Opry for some good ol’ fashioned family entertainment at the Star Theatre in Historic Mercersburg, PA. Celebrate the reason for the season with a great set of Country Gospel followed by a set of Christmas Country Classics. The price of the ticket includes the show and a family style lunch buffet. The trip takes place Nov. 30 from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Cost is $105 (resident) or $131.25 (non-resident).
Saturday, Dec. 10: New York City Rockettes (ages 4 and older): Join us for a 4:30 p.m. showing of this theatrical masterpiece starring the world famous Rockettes. Every year the Rockettes push themselves further to put on a show that’s more dynamic, more challenging and more magical than the last. A charter bus will depart the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department at 6:30 a.m and return around 12:30 a.m. Fee will include transportation and one ticket to the show. There will be a stop going up and coming back. There will be time before and after the show to enjoy the sites and sounds of the Big Apple. Tickets sell out fast so get yours today! The trip takes place Dec. 10 from 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. Tickets are $163 to $203.75.

Wednesday, Dec. 14: Longwood Gardens (for ages 50 and older): The spirit of the holiday season overflows during A Longwood Christmas. Blue and white twinkling lights, whirling fountain features, thousands of seasonal plants, and a bounty of trees with icicles and fountain-inspired glass ornaments fill the Conservatory. Outside, a magical world awaits. From an Italian Water Garden illuminated with a 20-foot tree form, to a maple tree with its roots aglow near the Boardwalk, to the colorful fountains of the Open Air Theatre. Our visit will include a guided tour, a fountain show, an organ sing-a-long and an outdoor light festival at dusk. There is holiday magic everywhere at Longwood Gardens. Lunch is included in the ticket price. The trip takes place Dec. 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Cost is $98 to $122.50.
Wednesday, Dec. 21: A Lancaster Christmas Experience (for ages 50 and older): Join us for a trip to Lancaster, PA for a Magic Lantern show and a Holiday Comedy Dinner Show.Travel back over 100 years to a time before the movies, when the spellbinding drama and humor of the Showman and the spectacular projected images from his “Magic Lantern” dazzled audiences. Step back in time and become part of a Victorian family’s traditional Christmas Eve celebration. The stunning brass triple-lantern, glorious hand-painted illustrations, a giant screen, the Showman’s legendary story-telling skills, rousing music and sing-alongs, dazzling 19th century special effects-all combine to create this unique entertainment of the Victorian age. Classic Christmas stories and poems and much more will fill you with the Christmas spirit. Next we will stop at Rainbow’s Comedy Playhouse for “Green Holly & Gray Potatoes”- It’s Christmas and the family has gathered to tell Mom and Dad it’s time to move into a retirement community. Mom and Dad have other plans! It’s a side-splitting comedy you won’t want to miss. Lunch is included in the ticket price. The trip takes place Dec. 21 from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Cost is $125 to $156.25.
