Victim Robbed After Meeting Arranged Online to Purchase iPhone

Teen suspect from Maryland arrested by Fairfax County Police.

VIENNA, VA -- Police say a meeting arranged online to purchase an iPhone went bad after the two people met in person Saturday morning in Fairfax.

The two met in the 2600 block of Avenir Place (see map below), at 11 a.m. The victim agreed to meet the suspect via online communication, to purchase an iPhone, police said. They met in a parking lot to conduct the exchange.

But the suspect took cash from the victim’s person and fled, police said. There were no injuries. The suspect was seen running into a local store in the area where he was apprehended by officers.

A 17-year-old male from Maryland, was arrested and charged with robbery. A second subject was seen with the arrested inside of the store and was described as black, 17 to 20 years old, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, 150 to 170 pounds, wearing a white tank top, blue jeans, white sneakers, and carrying a purple backpack.
