Town Council elections used to happen in May, but that changed under a new Virginia election law. Vienna Town Council sets policies for the Town of Vienna, including the town's annual budget. The new Council will take effect after a major zoning code update has already been completed. Some issues, such as parking, still need to be addressed in the zoning code update.
Other Fairfax County races include Board of Supervisors district and chairman races, School Board at-large and district races, Commonwealth's Attorney, Sheriff, Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District, Virginia Senate and Virginia House.
Unofficial election results will start to come in on the Virginia Department of Elections website after polls closed at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
