Vienna Halloween Parade: Route, Details For Broadway-Themed Event
The Vienna Halloween Parade, a town tradition since 1946, will bring Broadway to Maple Avenue this year.

VIENNA, VA — Maple Avenue will transform into Broadway to celebrate favorite productions at the next Vienna Halloween Parade on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. This is the 79th annual Halloween Parade, with this year's theme being "Broadway on Maple."
The Halloween Parade runs along Maple Avenue from Branch Road to Center Street. Vienna Theatre Company’s Eric Storck will lead as parade marshal. The Broadway on Maple theme is a nod to theatre arts around Vienna. Participating floats and parade groups will celebrate their favorite Broadway shows and characters.
Residents wishing to march in the parade without a float or parade unit do not need to pre-register. They will meet at 6 p.m. at United Bank, 374 Maple Ave., E. Costumes are encouraged but not required.

Children marching in the parade can stop by the Caffi Field Pitching Lanes (Cherry Street SE between the Vienna Community Center and the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department) to pick up a free treat bag. Bags will be distributed starting at 7:15 p.m. when the parade is underway.
Parade floats and entertainments are eligible for parade awards, including Youth Band, Float with Music, Float without Music, Youth Performers, Adult Performers, and Antique Vehicles. The parade reviewing stage is located at the Town Green between Dominion Road and Mill Street. Parade winners are typically announced at a future award ceremony at a Vienna Town Council meeting.

The town noted changes this year that will affect parade spectators. Temporary metal fencing will be placed on both sides of Maple Avenue from Branch Road to Center Street for the safety of pedestrians and parade participants. According to the town, the fencing will expand the seating area and allow spectators to see the parade from a closer view. Temporary fencing will also be placed around streetscape planters to protect the plants from trampling.
Single lane rolling lane closures will begin at 3 p.m. along Maple Avenue. From 6:30 p.m. to about 11 p.m., Maple Avenue will be completely closed to vehicular traffic. Driveways to businesses along Maple Avenue in the parade area may remain open until 6:30 p.m. Many other roads used for the parade lineup or located near the parade route will be closed starting at 4:45 p.m. and 6 p.m. A map of parade road closures is available on the town's website.
For vehicles with accessible tags or license plates, accessible parking will be provided on Church Street from Dominion Road to Park Street in front of the Freeman Store and Museum and Vienna Presbyterian Church.
