Vienna Police to Participate in 'Take Back the Drugs'

A collection site will be set up for residents to drop off medications

The Vienna Police Department will collect drugs from residents as part of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration's Take Back the Drugs Initiative.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, residents can drop off old, expired, unused, or unwanted medications at a collection site inside the police headquarters at 215 Center St.

Prescription medications, controlled or non-controlled substances, and over-the counter drugs may be turned in anonymously.

The substances may be submitted in their original containers or by disposing them directly into the collection box. Residents may want to be mindful to remove any identifying information from the containers.

Liquid products should remain sealed in their original container to prevent leakage. Intravenous solutions, injectibles, and syringes will not be accepted.
