Vienna Theatre Company, Town of Vienna to Present One-Act Plays

Tickets are on sale for fall theater series in Town of Vienna.

VIENNA, VA -- The Town of Vienna and Vienna Theatre Company present the second edition of a fall theatre series of one-act plays, Eclectic Essentials II. Performances are at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 28 and 29 and Nov. 4 and 5, at Vienna Baptist Church, 541 Marshall Road SW, the Town announced Monday in a news release.

The lineup includes four one-acts under the individual direction of Beth Carpenter, Tom Epps, and Jessie Roberts. Playwrights include Ellen Byron, Lee Blessing, and Christopher Durang.

“It’s not the subject matter, it’s how it’s presented,” says Director Jessie Roberts, explaining how a seemingly mundane event – like going to the DMV, for example – can be dramatized to a comedic absurd level in just seven minutes. Working off the script as a blueprint, she adds, “You have to find the reality and then exploit it into something different.”
