VIENNA, VA -- Elementary students throughout Vienna took a combined 6,473 trips to school by foot, bike, skateboard, and scooter last week in the Town's Walk/Bike Challenge, the Town announced Monday. In all, 1,250 of those trips were by bicycle.

Students and PTAs at Vienna's elementary schools donated the $500 collected from the Vienna Business Association during Bike/Walk Challenge Week to the Community for Helping Others to be used to purchase bicycles for children in need, the Town said on its Facebook page.

Cunningham Park Elementary won this year's Challenge Cup for most improvement in participation over last year. In second and third place were Westbriar and Vienna Elementary. The Biking Cup, which recognizes the school with the highest level of biking participants, went to Vienna Elementary, with Marshall and Woltrap in second and third, respectively.
