Virginia Basketball Playoffs: Madison Girls Top Robinson
Warhawks now move on to Tuesday AAA Northern Region quarterfinals.
The Madison High School girls basketball team continued to roll through regional playoffs Monday night, beating Robinson 47-37 on its home court in the first round of the AAA Northern Region Finals.
The win helps the Warhawks advance to the quarterfinals Tuesday night, where they'll face Edison at 7:30 p.m. — once again on Madison's home turf.
The Warhawks (18-8, 10-4 Liberty) relied on solid defense to hold Robinson (7-17, 1-9) scoreless in the first quarter.

But the Rams fought back in the second, outscoring the Warhawks 15-10 to enter halftime down just 20-15.
Madison ultimately controlled the scoring after the break, though, edging Robinsion for a final 10-point lead and 47-37 win.

Madison sophomore Jana Tremba had a huge night for the Warhawks, sinking a season-high 20 points — including five 3-pointers, a new personal single-game record — for the win. Seniors Megan Leduc and Jonee Finney added 10 and 8 points, respectively.
Robinson's Dhyamond Crenshaw led scoring for the Rams with 13 points.
Edison beat Woodson 56-29 on Monday night to advance to face the Warhawks in the quarterfinals. Tuesday night's game begins at 7:30 p.m. at Madison High School, 2500 James Madison Drive, Vienna.
