Voyeurism Reported in Giant Store Bathroom in Vienna: Police
Vienna Police report: Dog feces left on front porch, man accidentally shoots himself while cleaning gun, student in possession of knife.

VIENNA, VA -- Vienna Police are investigating a case of possible voyeurism Jan. 25 in a bathroom at the Giant Food store at 359 Maple Ave. E. An employee contacted police that night at 6:30 p.m., reporting she was in a restroom stall when she noticed someone was holding a cell phone underneath the stall beside her. This case is being investigated.
The voyeurism case is one featured in the following summary that contains various incidents of general interest handled by the Town of Vienna, Virginia Police Department from January 27, 2017 – February 2, 2017. Readers are reminded that an “arrest” is based upon probable cause and does not always mean that someone was physically taken into custody. INCIDENTS
Suspicious Event 17-000930: 300 Block Maple Avenue, East Between November 1, 2016 at 12:00 a.m. and January 30 at 7:27 p.m. An employee reported a continuous problem with an unknown person entering the building during the nights and weekends. The person has left litter and caused some damage.

Vandalism 17-000863: 1000 Block Cottage Street, SW Between December 5, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. and January 27 at 12:00 p.m. A resident reported an on-going problem with someone leaving dog feces on the front of the residence.
Suspicious Event 17-000993: 900 Block Frederick Street, SW Between December 14, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. and January 31 at 7:00 p.m. A resident reported suspicious telephone calls she has been receiving that she feels may be a scam.
Domestic Assault 17-000641: Cedar Lane, SE January 22 11:00 p.m. A resident reported she and her juvenile son were assaulted by the child’s father. No injuries were observed and the resident was advised of the warrant process.
Fraud 17-000857 300 Block Lewis Street, NW Between January 25 at 5:30 p.m. and January 28 at 10:28 a.m. A resident received a telephone call from someone claiming to be with a police department advising their grandson had been arrested. To bail the grandson out of jail the resident was instructed to purchase Target gift cards. The caller later called the resident back to get the numbers to the gift cards. He then advised the resident he would have to purchase additional cards to cover the grandson’s bail. This case is being investigated.
Juvenile Case 17-000917: Cedar Lane School 101 Cedar Lane, SW January 26 2:30 p.m. School officials advised of an incident between students that left one student feeling threatened. The school is following up on this case.
Arrest - Juvenile Case 17-000804: Cedar Lane School 101 Cedar Lane, SW January 27 9:02 a.m. Officers responded to assist security with a student who walked away from the school. The student was located and returned to the school. He was found to be in possession of a knife. The juvenile’s mother responded and he was released to her custody. Ofc. Post later obtained and served a petition on the juvenile charging Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds.
Fraud 17-000821 Sandy Springs Bank 414 Maple Avenue, East January 27 11:50 a.m. An employee reported that a man entered the bank and attempted to cash a fraudulent check. The man did not receive any funds and left the bank. During the officer’s interview with the employee the bank received information from another branch that the same man was attempting to cash another fraudulent check in Fairfax County. Fairfax County Police responded and positively identified the man as the same person in this case. This case is being investigated by our department.
Arrest – Warrant Service 17-000823: 800 Block DeSale Street, SW January 27 1:40 p.m. Arlington County Police had an active warrant for a man and requested our officers attempt to locate him at his residence. Ofc. Post arrested the 35 year old man for Failure to Comply With a Court Order and transported him the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where the warrant was served and he was held on a $1500 bond.
Arrest – Driving While Intoxicated and Refusal 17-000836: Courthouse Road and Locust Street, SW January 27 10:24 p.m. MPO Borja observed a driver commit several traffic violations and initiated a traffic stop. Upon her interaction with the driver she detected signs of possible impairment. After failing to complete a series of field sobriety tests she arrested the 60-year-old female from Beau Lane in Fairfax, Virginia for Driving While Intoxicated. The driver was transported to the Vienna Police Station where she was given the opportunity to provide a sample of her breath for analysis, which she refused. She was then transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where she was charged with 2nd Driving While Intoxicated, 2nd Refusal and held on a $6000 secured bond.
Police Service 17-000853: 300 Block Old Courthouse Road, NE January 28 6:11 a.m. A residence requested assistance with her elderly husband who suffers from various medical conditions and had walked away from home. Our officers and officers from Fairfax County Police located the man and requested rescue personnel respond to evaluate him. The man was transported by rescue to an area hospital for further treatment.
Domestic Dispute 17-000866: Park Street, NE January 28 2:11 p.m. Officers responded to assist with two couples who were having a verbal domestic dispute.
Firearm Violation 17-000880: 600 Block Valley Drive, SE January 28 11:48 p.m. A resident was cleaning his guns when he accidently shot himself in the hand. Rescue personnel transported the man to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. This case is being investigated.
Arrest – Drunk In Public / Narcotics Violation / Domestic Dispute 17-000882: Wolftrap Hotel 430 Maple Avenue, West January 29 12:44 a.m. Officers responded to a dispute between a man and woman in their hotel room. Officers arrived on scene and determined that the man was intoxicated and in possession of marijuana. PFC Tremont arrested the 21 year old man from Piney Grove Court in Fairfax, Virginia for Drunk In Public and Possession of Marijuana and transported him to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was to be held until he was sober.
Animal Case – Quarantine 17-000913: The Hope Center 140 Park Street, SE January 29 4:00 a.m. An employee was bitten by a cat during a medical procedure. The cat was returned home with its owner in Great Falls, Virginia. Fairfax County Animal Control will follow up with the quarantine.
Arrest – Driving on Revoked License 17-000936: Center Street, South at Maple Avenue, East January 30 10:59 p.m. MPO Smith observed a vehicle with expired registration and initiated a traffic stop. The driver was found to be driving on a revoked license. MPO Smith arrested the 22-year-old man with no fixed address for Driving on Revoked and transported him to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
Domestic Dispute 17-000943: Locust Street, SE January 31 11:14 p.m. Officers responded to a domestic dispute between a resident and her adult son.
Domestic Dispute 17-001008: Patrick Street, SE February 1 8:44 p.m. Officers responded to the area for a domestic dispute between a boyfriend and girlfriend. The boyfriend agreed to leave for the night.
