Flu Vaccines Offered at Inova Alexandria Friday
Due to increased demand, the hospital is offering a special, walk-in influenza vaccine clinic Friday afternoon. The number of flu cases in Northern Virginia is still very high.
Inova Alexandria hospital will be offering a public flu vaccination clinic from 3 - 6 p.m. this Friday at the IAH HEC Auditorium.
There is also a clinic at Inova Fairfax Hospital from 9 a.m. - noon Saturday in the Women's Health Atrium and at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital from 1 - 4 p.m. Saturday in the Medical Plaza Building.

In addition, the city of Alexandria has a flu vaccine clinic open Mondays (by appointment) and at certain times on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. More information is here.

Google Flu Trends still shows an "intense" level of activity in the D.C. metropolitan area. (See the chart in the media box at right.)
Earlier this month, Inova reported it was seeing three times as many patients as normal in the emergency room with flu-like symptoms. As a result, the hospital put visitor restrictions into place to decrease the chances that a hospital staff or patients would be infected.
