Officer Laboy Honored with Moment of Silence
A moment of silence was held before the St. Patrick's Day Parade honoring Alexandria officer Peter Laboy, who was shot last week in Old Town Alexandria. His wife has set up a website with information about the situation.
Alexandria's Police motorcycle unit traditionally leads the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade, and this year injured officer Peter Laboy was honored with a moment of silence before the parade began.
An Alexandria Yellow Cab driver allegedly shot Laboy Wednesday outside of Old Town's Lyles-Crouch Traditional Academy. Several police officers at the parade told Old Town Alexandria Patch that Laboy remains in critical condition, but they are optimistic for his recovery.
Laboy's wife, Suzanne, has set up a Caring Bridge website enabling supporters to make donations and read her comments about her husband's progress.

The website is titled "Superman."
Suzanne's most recent entry reads: "Things are still progressing positively. I continue to be amazed at the support and the love that has been showing up in many forms. Wishes, prayers, thoughts, cards, gifts, food. ... I am not worried about one thing at this time other than my husband! Thanks for friends, family, coworkers, community, throughout Alexandria and throughout the world!!! We are blessed and feeling the LOVE! Goodnight!"

In earlier entries, Suzanne writes that he gave her a hug when she visited him in the hospital and, "We decided that Peter would like to hear some NASCAR to pass the time. So it's on the iPad and by his ear and he seems content."
Donors wrote tributes such as "In honor of Super Man Thank you for your dedication to the citizens of Alexandria, and especially to our students, whom you keep safe." — a grateful ACPS teacher
Donations also are being accepted through the Alexandria Police Association.
