Update: Water Main Break Closes Portion of Quaker Lane

Update - 4:35 p.m. Thursday -- Virginia American Water crews and city officials expect to have one lane open in each direction on Quaker Lane for the Monday evening commute. Crews are continuing to repair the major water main break that happened early this morning, according to the City of Alexandria's Facebook page. 

Traffic may still back up on Quaker Lane, Seminary Road and Duke Street as commuters used to taking Quaker Lane seek alternate routes.

Alexandria city officials have reported that Quaker Lane is closed in both directions between Duke Street and Seminary Road due to a water main break. 

Drivers are advised to leave a few minutes early and use an alternate route this morning.
