  1. A once-annual global food festival returned to a Winchester elementary school last week after being temporarily canceled during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Virginia Avenue Charlotte DeHart Elementary School's Global Festival encouraged parents, staff, and volunteers to bring in delicacies from around the world for students to sample. The program is intended to help students learn more about the various cultures of their classmates. (The Winchester Star)
  2. The James Wood High School girls' track and field team earned its third consecutive title at the H. Brian Landes Apple Blossom Invitational on Saturday. The team was in first place heading into the event over the weekend, where they earned a total of 86 points. Elizabeth Imoh earned MVP honors for the second year in a row for winning the 100 hurdles, the 300 hundred hurdles, and the high jump. (The Winchester Star)
  3. Handley Library is hosting a Music and Wellness Workshop about anxiety relief on May 9 in the Benham Gallery Room. The program will be led by music therapist Cheryl Costello and will teach participants how to use music to strengthen the mind and memory, regulate emotions, and create better social connections.
