• Football Coach of the Year: Handley's Jake Smith (winchesterstar.com) — Handley High School football coach Jake Smith has been named The Winchester Star’s Football Coach of the Year after leading the Judges to a 10-2 season, their best since 2009. With a high-powered offense, stingy defense, and an Apple Cup title over local rivals, Smith highlights the team’s tight-knit chemistry and breakthrough home playoff win as defining moments for the Winchester community. 
• 14 hospitalized after Thruway rollover crash in Hudson Valley (timesunion.com) — A 65-year-old man from Winchester was driving a commercial passenger van that rolled over off the New York Thruway near Saugerties early Saturday, sending 14 adults to area hospitals with minor injuries. State Police say driver inattention, including alleged use of an electronic device and unsafe speed, appears to have caused the crash, and the Winchester driver received multiple traffic tickets.
