Here are the top three stories today in Winchester:

  1. Wilson E. Buckingham of Winchester was apprehended on Friday after reportedly fleeing from a traffic stop on foot Thursday. Officials report Buckingham was pulled over at the intersection of U.S. 50 and Iron Rail Lane around 5:30 p.m. Thursday for speeding and attempting to flee from officers. A female passenger was detained at the time of the incident as well but was later released. (The Winchester Star)
  2. The Winchester Area SPCA received a generous donation of $24,493 from Subaru of America Inc. and CMA's Subaru of Winchester in support of its goal to have over 2,400 pets adopted this year. The money came from the annual "Share the Love" event that took place in November and December and was presented to the local SPCA at the annual meeting on Mar. 27 at the Winchester Country Club. In 2022, the non-profit facilitated over 1,000 adoptions, assisted over 1,000 pets through the Pets for Life program, and saved over 250 pets from at-risk shelters. (The Winchester Star)
