County, Service Authority Enter into Multimillion Dollar Agreement

Service Authority agrees to repay the county $4,991,039 for paying for moving sewer and water pipes.

The Prince William Board of County Supervisors voted unanimously on Tuesday to enter into an agreement with the Service Authority for costs related to the Route 1 widening project.

The Service Authority will have to move some of its water and sewer lines due to the improvements on Route 1, from Neabsco Mills Road to Featherstone. The cost of this project will be $6,130,000.

The County agreed to be responsible for $1,138,961 of the cost; however, some of the costs will be offset by adjustments that were originally allotted to the contractor. Effectively, the county will provide $624,000, using available funds from the Route 1 project fund.
