Woodbridge Resident Faces Murder Charge In D.C. Double Shooting

WASHINGTON, DC — A shooting that killed one person and injured another in southeast Washington, DC Saturday has led to an arrest and charge of a Woodbridge resident, Metropolitan Police say.

Metropolitan Police had responded around 11:23 p.m. Saturday to the 2700 block of Martin Luther King. Jr Avenue SE. Officers found an unconscious man who was not breathing and had multiple gunshot wounds. Despite live-saving efforts, the man was pronounced dead. He was identified as Clay Hargrave, 55, of White Plains, Maryland.

A second man was found conscious and breathing. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers received a lookout for the suspect and found him nearby. Charles Mitchell Jr., 46, of Woodbridge, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder while armed.
