WOODBRIDGE, VA — A Fredericksburg man has been charged in connection with a crash that killed a passenger in Woodbridge in April, authorities said.
The passenger, a 30-year-old man, died three weeks after the crash from injuries he suffered.
On Thursday, investigators identified the driver as Austin Michael Woolf. He was taken into custody and charged with reckless driving and filing a false police report.

Woolf's court date is pending and he is being held on a $5,000 secured bond. If convicted of all charges, he could face up to 10 years in prison, based on Virginia's sentencing guidelines.
The crash occurred around 11 p.m. on April 29 at the intersection of Old Bridge Road and Colby Drive in Woodbridge. Investigators said a Ford truck ran into the back of a Kia Sorento that was stopped at a red light.

After striking the Kia, the truck left the road and hit a light pole, authorities said. The driver of the Ford fled the scene while a passenger in the truck was taken to an area hospital.
Initially, the police department believed a Woodbridge man was responsible for the crash. After additional review, investigators determined that the Woodbridge man was not the driver they were looking for.
After further review, investigators identified Woolf as the suspect.
"Initial information given by Woolf to police at the time of the crash in April contributed to the false identification of the driver previously sought in the investigation," the police department said in a report.
Woolf was taken into custody on Thursday.
