Why Go: The 2011 White House Christmas ornament honors the twenty-sixth president of the United States, Theodore Roosevelt, and reflects the excitement that President Roosevelt, his wife Edith, and their lively young family brought to life at the White House. It is two-sided ornament and features Santa outside the White House and the Roosevelt family on the reverse.

When/Where: Potomac Community Library, Dec. 10 from 1 p.m. - 3p.m. 2201 Opitz Boulevard, Woodbridge.

Why Go: The library will have a string trio of local musicians, craft projects for the entire family, refreshments and other activities and contests. Pick up a coupon for a free book from the next book sale in March. All ages. No registration required.

Sensitive Santa for Families Affected by Autism 

When/Where: Potomac Mills Mall, Dec. 11 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. 

Why Go: According to the mall, the Santa area will be “sensory-friendly,” meaning the lights will be turned down and staff will be instructed to avoid loud, distracting movements.  In addition, families will not have to wait in line, but will sign in and be called when it is their turn. Children will be provided with complimentary coloring sheets while they wait.

Pricing: Visits with Santa are free, but photo packages will be available.
