Hit & Run Suspect Burned Officer's Hand With Cigarette, Fled Scene

A Woodbridge resident is accused of burning an officer and driving off from a wreck scene, according to Prince William County Police.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A man is accused of fleeing a wreck scene after burning an officer with a cigarette, according to Prince William County Police.

Temple Lee Darry Jr., 40, of 15354 Grist Mill Terrace, Woodbridge, is charged with assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, obstruction of justice, hit and run and no operator’s license. He is being held without bond.

At 4:55 p.m Sunday, officers were investigating a two-vehicle wreck in the area of Cardinal Drive and Jefferson Davis Highway.

Darry allegedly refused to provide identification. When he was asked to exit his vehicle, Darry allegedly burned an officer in the hand with a cigarette and sped away.

Darry stopped in front of his home, but again refused officers' requests to get out of his car.

He was removed from the vehicle and detained without further incident, according to police.

Minor injuries were reported to the officer.
